A message from Dr. Scott Smith, Superintendent:
The Gasconade R-1 School District resumed classes and we are off to a great start! The start of each school year is an exciting time for students and district faculty and staff. We appreciate all the parents who entrust us to provide a quality education to your children.

Since my time in the district, I have found the faculty and staff to be very caring and eager to do what is in the best interest of students. As a district, we will continue to work to assure our students have a good school year. As the year progresses, if you have questions or concerns, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher and/or the building administrator.

I have appreciated the warm welcome to Hermann and have enjoyed meeting many of you. Please know my office is open as well. Let’s make it a great year Bearcats!

About our school district...

Approximately 965 students are enrolled in the three schools operated by the Gasconade County R-I School District. Children in pre-kindergarten through grade 4 attend Hermann Elementary School. Hermann Middle School serves students in grades 5 through 8. Finally, Hermann High School, opened in 2000, houses students grades 9 through 12.

The District is located in the community of Hermann, Missouri and encompasses a portion of four counties, Franklin, Gasconade, Montgomery, and Warren in Missouri. The district is governed by an elected 7 member board of education. The assessed valuation of the school district is approximately $119.5 million. The school system operates on a budget of approximately $12.2 million.

The Gasconade Co. R-I School District emphasizes academic excellence for all students. Students thrive in a culture that emphasizes hard work, respect, and dignity. The district is fully accredited by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Student leadership sets the expectation for these core values in each of the three district buildings.

The district provides a full complement of extra-curricular activities, offering excellent facilities for student athletes, musicians, and thespians. Co-curricular activities for vocational programs help develop tomorrow’s leaders.
