AMI

Based on the impacts of Winter Storm Blair, our district has missed a total of four days. As in past years, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has allowed schools to participate in Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI). Over the last few years, we have been fortunate to experience mild winters. Unfortunately, we are nearing the time when it is best to implement our AMI plan.

In the event the district misses additional days, we will follow the schedule below:

  • Day 5 - Normal Snow Day

  • Day 6 - AMI Day 1

  • Day 7 - Normal Snow Day

  • Day 8 - AMI Day 2

  • Day 9 - Normal Snow Day

  • Day 10 - AMI Day 3

  • Day 11 - Normal Snow Day

  • Day 12 - AMI Day 4

  • Day 13 - Normal Snow Day

  • Day 14 - AMI Day 5

Instructions for AMI by Building

Elementary School: PreK to 3rd Grade

In your child's backpack there is an orange folder that contains a packet of grade-level school work to be used only if our school is called off and the day is listed as an AMI day. We worked hard in our classrooms to show our students what is in our folder and when to use them.  Classroom teachers will message families in Rooms regarding AMI instructions on an AMI day.  Please keep this folder in your child's backpack until you receive a Rooms message.

Middle School: 4th to 8th Grades

AMI assignments were sent home in orange folders to be kept at home. Teachers have planned 5 days’ worth of activities that you will complete from home on AMI assigned days. The activities for each subject area are labeled by AMI day. For example, when school is canceled for the 6th time, Dr. Neill will announce that students are to complete the AMI Day 1 assignments for each class. Upon returning to school, students would turn in the AMI Day 1 assignments to their teachers. Do not bring the orange folders back to school. AMI assignments not needed will stay at home to be used at a later date.

High School: 9th to 12th Grades

The schedule for AMI days will follow our regular Blue/White rotation. For example, if the next scheduled day is a Blue Day, the AMI day will also follow the Blue Day schedule. I will send an email beforehand to confirm the schedule. When we return to school, we’ll resume the normal rotation. Your assignments will be available on Canvas and will be designed to help you stay engaged and ready for when we return to class. Your teachers will be available for a one-hour period during the AMI day to answer questions via email. They will post their availability on Canvas (e.g., 1:00–2:00 PM).
